This course aims to (1) familiarize you with topics, criteria and mode of IELTS speaking test; (2) improve your fluency by offering more opportunities for you to speak; (3) facilitate your lexical variety and grammatical accuracy; (4) help you produce accurate and intelligible English.
The tools will be employed in this course are blog and virtual world. The former is used as a platform for you to obtain newest information, materials and tasks you need to accomplish before class and as a platform for interactions of students and teachers and your cooperative learning. The latter is adopted to create interesting backgrounds and lively atmosphere for your free talking.
Course Assessment
Formative assessment will be held at the mid-term of the online course in the form of IELTS speaking mode; summative test will be held to prepare you with the mode of IELTS speaking, which is criteria-based.

3.Introduction to Second Life

A. Second Life is a virtual world, and is used by many people world-wide. It was not created as a learning environment, but there are quite a few educators who have looked at the potential for this kind of virtual world.
B. To start using SL you must download the programme software from the Second Life website http://secondlife.com/. You also have to sign up for an account, which is also free. You need create USER NAME & PASSWORD and you can meet up with the group in one of the designated areas, which you will receive detailed information before the class from you teachers.
C. You need become familiar with how to move and talk – “talking” can be done by writing in the chat line at the foot of the screen.
